Some of you may have noticed that we added signage to the Third Street site to let the community know what is happening there. We are moving forward! However, waiting and wading through complicated processes is hard, especially considering how cold it’s been and how many people are in need of housing. We have been required to do additional testing at the site as that part of town has known “hotspots” where industrial contamination has taken place. The tests may result in further mitigation of contamination, or adjustments in our design, but we don’t anticipate it to stop the project. One silver lining – we have had additional time to work with community members and businesses to recycle parts of the buildings, as sustainability is important. Instead of a January groundbreaking, we now anticipate groundbreaking to occur sometime in April, with demo and site prep to occur in the next month or so. In the meantime, we are raising capital funds from the community and making adjustments in our organizational structure and programming to help us be ready when the building opens, which is projected for mid-2026.
With gratitude for all of the support,
